- Verified complaint, tested battery, starting, & charging system, found the following: + Battery rated 850 EN, tested 400 EN, 12.58 volts (recharge & retest) + Starter consumed 10.9 volts (pass) + Alternator ouput 12.58 volts (low, check belt & alternator) Performed function test, found alternator output increases only when vehicle RPM reaches above 3,000. Alternator output does not keep up with vehicle demands at idle. Advised customer & authorized repair. Disconnected battery & recharged. Released belt tension to remove drive belt. Removed electrical connectors to alternator & removed alternator assembly. Replaced alternator with brand new unit. Reassembled & road tested. Verified alternator output 14.2 volts (OK, pass). Battery tested good. Vehicle operating as designed.
